Water + Sanitation & Hygiene + Pandemic Protection for all by 2030
#WASHPAP2030
Join us for this special Model United Nations debate and advocacy initiative, brought to you by MUN Impact and One Shared World, working together to guarantee clean water, basic sanitation and hygiene, and essential pandemic protection for everyone on earth by 2030 as a cornerstone of our global response to Covid-19.
For decades, people and organization around the world have advocated for the WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) agenda as a way to help vulnerable people. Others have advocated to strengthen public health systems and pandemic preparedness (PAP). Covid-19 has shown us that WASH and PAP are fully connected. As we are now seeing in sharp relief, a virus that grows and mutates anywhere poses an increased threat to people everywhere. Ensuring WASHPAP for all is not charity, but collective insurance.
The #WASHPAP2030 initiative will begin with a series of Model United Nations debates in multiple languages negotiating a Model UN resolution guaranteeing WASHPAP for all by 2030 and developing concrete plans for realizing this aspiration. Participants will then join a global advocacy campaign seeking to transform this Model UN resolution into a real solutions-based action plan to be implemented by world leaders. In this exciting multi-week and month opportunity, students won’t just learn about WASHPAP through the lens of SDGs 3 and 6.2 and the current international response to the ongoing pandemic, they will be empowered to drive real change building a better future for all.
This program is open to all middle, high school and university level students. No previous experience is required. This program is FREE of charge to all participants.
