MUN Impact Process and Planning Tool

MUN Impact has developed a series of planning tools to help students explore the SDGs and develop projects or initiatives to support them. The MUN Impact Process document and Planning Tool have been linked here for you to download as a pdf. You can also access these forms on Google docs. Simply copy them on to your own and edit them to suit your needs.

There is no one set way to develop an impact or service project. But having a process to work through will guide you to ask the right questions.

Get Inspired: Find an SDG that you and your club likes or thinks is important. Which SDG could you implement at school or push out into your community? Dig into the targets and indicators and look for issues that have one degree of separation between you and your community. Make it personal to your community of students.

DIVE into the SDG: Brainstorm and gather information about how your chosen local issue is related to the SDG. Take a critical look at the issue and gather the required information to guide further decision making. What would your community look like if this Goal were achieved? What kinds of actions would have to occur? Who would have to be involved to make it happen? Think about your local environment – what are the issues affecting it?

IMPACT: After picking one idea to focus on, use our MUN Impact Planning Tool to lay out a path to action.
Your plan will include your goal and target, a project description, key team members who will be involved in the project, your project goal, as well as a list of approvals you might need to start your action campaign. On the last page you will lay out your action steps, accountability, due date for each action and to troubleshoot any potential issues you might encounter.
Once you have a plan, you can begin to take ACTION, and make an impact on your community to support the SDGs
