Program Overview for Educators
The 2020-2021 school year is shaping up to be an interesting one. With online and hybrid schooling the new normal for the foreseeable future, we want to share several Model UN and SDG-related activities that you and your students can participate in. We are happy to work with teachers to integrate larger numbers of students into our programs and will accommodate as many students as possible. We have Arabic and French language programs, in addition to our current Spanish program, to our offerings in the fall of 2020.
New Online Home for MUN Impact: In September, we moved some of our programs to our new platform on Taking IT Global (TIG). These programs will have a home on this youth-friendly space. We will also be hosting new guest organizations each month, each sharing their work on the SDGs and larger sustainability initiatives. If you have MUN students who want to take a deeper dive into SDG-focused (non-MUN) topics and projects, we will be hosting these on TIG. We anticipate community hubs for SDG 5 (Gender), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production), Space and Sustainability, and ongoing SDGsChallenge work spaces to name but a few. We will add to these offerings as student demand increases and teacher volunteers/supervisors can be sourced. Check here for Privacy and Terms of Service for TIGed.

MUN@Home
MUN@Home offers free one month courses, each focused on one SDG Target. The course is run asynchronously on Edmodo and mentored by experienced high school MUN delegates from around the world. Weekly Zoom sessions are held to provide online live mentoring, guest speakers and an end of course online MUN debate. Zoom sessions are optional but recommended.Starting in September we will be offering a beginner and advanced track, something that will appeal to every level of MUN experience.
Teachers may register their class or MUN club for this program, with students placed in one section or spread across multiple sections. We award digital badges for successful completion of the course which included participation in Zoom events and successful completion of the asynchronous coursework.

jrO-MUN
jrO-MUN has a similar format to MUN@Home, with debates every other month, and the course is run on Taking IT Global. The topics are slightly more middle school friendly, with the course spread over a slightly longer period.
For more information on how to get your middle school students involved contact us at jronlinemun@munimpact.org.
Online Model United Nations
O-MUN runs several debates a month, including Security Council debates, without the commitment or necessity of signing up for a lengthy online course. This is a more appropriate option for slightly more experienced high school delegates, although new students are welcome.
For more information contact O-MUN at info@onlinemodelun.org.

With Arabic being a widely spoken language and a medium for higher-level discourse, we have created an Arabic edition of MUN@Home. Through this program, we enable Arabic-speaking youth to hold conversations about global issues in their native language, allowing them to engage more deeply with these issues in their local communities.
Similar to MUN@Home in English, the course is run asynchronously on Edmodo and mentored by experienced high school MUN delegates from around the world. With optional weekly Zoom sessions providing online live mentoring, guest speakers, and an end of course online MUN debate, students will learn many valuable skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and debating. These courses will prepare them to confidently participate in Model United Nation conferences and to be positive changemakers.

MUN Impact Global
MUN Impact Global is a network of engaged high school students looking for ways to promote action and awareness of the SDGs through Model UN. We have several ways for individual students, MUN clubs or even conferences to be involved in MUN Impact.
Clubs: If your MUN club is looking for ways to use the club as a vehicle for raising awareness and undertaking action projects to support the SDGs, and if you have students wishing to create a formal association with MUN Impact, consider becoming a club partner. See our Club Partnership page for more information.
MUN Conferences: If you run a traditional or online conference, we have a partnership program that helps you align your conference to larger SDG themes and shares creative ideas on how to integrate SDG awarenss and action into your event. This is a peer-to-peer program; student leaders will work together to creatively address ways to bring the SDGs meaningfully to your program.
